  • It requires negligible maintenance

  • Capable of absorbing high impact

  • Painted with quality enamels corrosion & rust to ensure resistance

Technical Specifications:

Scope: Given below description includes the essential requirements of protective layer steel barbed wire having two parts of cable, in adherence with IS:278-1978 standards having latest modification in any of the types are given below:

General Requirements:

a)Different kinds of Barbed cables

b) Category

The barbs should consist of four tips and should be created by rotations two tip wires with two rotations, around the line cables giving total four twists.

The barbs should have four tips and should be created by turning wires having two tips, every two rotations are coupled with a line cable making complete four rotations.

Manufacture:

  • The spiked cable is created by turning together two cables, either of them having the spiks
  • The 4 tips on the spiks should be far from each other and at right angles. The spiks should have minimum size of 13 mm and maximum of 18 mm. The tips should be sharp-edged and should be cut an angle less than 35 degrees from the centre line of the cable creating the spike.

Galvanizing: The spiked cable is made from coated steel cable, according to IS: 4826:1979 (with latest modifications) for light layered cable. However, when used in accordance with IS:6745-1972 (with latest up to date changes), the following specifications are given below:

Dia of  Wire Minimum zinc coating (Light Coated Wires)
2.00 mm 70 gm/mtr.sq.
2.50mm 90 gm/mtr.sq.

Dia of  Wire Minimum zinc coating (Heavily Coated Wires)
2.00 mm 240 gm/mtr.sq.
2.50mm 260 gm/mtr.sq.

Superior Corrosion Resistance

The galvanization process applies a protective zinc layer, ensuring long-lasting resistance against rust and harsh weather. This makes the wire suitable for extended outdoor use, safeguarding property lines and critical areas in rural, industrial, and urban settings. The high-quality coating thickness helps maintain optimal performance over years of exposure.

Versatile Application and Strength

Engineered from low carbon steel, the barbed wire provides a tensile strength of 350550 MPa, making it ideal for demanding fencing requirements. Its parallel double wire twisted design offers robust security for perimeters, farms, construction sites, and sensitive installations. Standard packaging and industry-standard dimensions guarantee compatibility with a range of fencing systems.

FAQs of Galvanised Steel Barbed Wire:

Q: How is the galvanised steel barbed wire installed for fencing purposes?

A: The wire is typically stretched along fence posts and secured using staples or wire ties. Rolls are unwrapped and laid out, with barbs positioned away from property lines for safety. Professional installation ensures proper tension and secure attachment to maximize security and performance.

Q: What are the advantages of using galvanised steel barbed wire over other fencing materials?

A: Galvanised steel barbed wire offers high corrosion resistance, robustness, and a prolonged life expectancy (815 years). The zinc coating and low carbon steel composition ensure strength while requiring minimal maintenance compared to alternatives like plain wire or non-galvanised options.

Q: When should barbed wire with a barb distance of 75 mm to 150 mm be chosen?

A: Select barb spacing based on the threat level and application. Closer barbs (75 mm) enhance deterrence for high-security areas, while wider spacing (up to 150 mm) suffices for farm or boundary fencing, optimizing material usage and cost.

Q: Where can galvanised steel barbed wire be effectively utilized?

A: It is suited for outdoor environments including agricultural land, construction zones, residential boundaries, and industrial perimeters, due to its high corrosion resistance and adaptability to various climates.

Q: What is the process used to ensure corrosion resistance in this barbed wire?

A: The steel wire undergoes galvanization, where a hot-dip zinc coating (4060 gsm) is applied. This process protects the wire from oxidation and environmental damage, providing superior durability and reduced need for maintenance.

Q: How does the packaging of barbed wire rolls support transport and storage?

A: Barbed wire is packaged in rolls wrapped with plastic or jute, which protects against moisture and physical damage during transit and storage, ensuring the wire maintains its quality until installation.

Q: What benefits does compliance with IS 278 (Indian Standard) provide?

A: Compliance ensures the wire meets stringent quality and safety benchmarks, guaranteeing performance, consistency, and reliability for buyers such as contractors, farmers, and security personnel.
